Arne Bellstorf is an artist, designer, cartoonist and graphic novelist based in Hamburg, known for his playful, minimal style. He’s created work for some of the biggest newspapers and magazines in Germany, including Der Spiegel and Die Zeit.

Bellstorf started drawing while in school, where he copied comics out by hand. “I like to work with lines, outlines, and the approach where you can put everything into an outline with black and white or simple colours,” he says. He continued sketching by hand for years, although now says he works mostly digitally, always aiming for the same “minimal” and “reduced” style that marks out his illustrations.

As well as designing the emblem for the UT, Bellstorf is currently working on his latest graphic novel.
